The AirMaster carpet captures and retains fine dust and pollutant particles, providing healthier indoor environments.

The AirMaster is a specially designed carpet tile that is eight times more effective at capturing and retaining fine dust than hard flooring. In contrast to common perceptions, several Northern European asthma and allergy organisations have stated that this carpet is better for reducing exposure to household dust than hard flooring. The carpet is made from materials that are Cradle to Cradle certified and do not contain harmful chemicals. Desso also has a takeback system, reusing old carpets to make new non-toxic carpets, forming a closed-loop production and consumption cycle. The company facilitates this process by offering a circular leasing plan, instead of direct ownership.

Why you should care

Indoor air pollution is a major health problem worldwide, as we spend approximately 90% of our time indoors, according to Desso. This solution contributes to cleaner indoor air, helping to reduce health problems such as asthma. The carpet works to reduce sickness absenteeism in the workplace, and improve overall health conditions in the corporate, education, health care, government and residential sectors.

How the Global Goals are addressed

Good Health and Well-Being

These carpets are up to 8 times more effective at capturing airborne dust particles than hard-wood floors, reducing the risks from allergies, asthma and other respiratory problems.

Decent Work and Economic Growth

Desso is certified by Social Accountability International to ensure that the company policies and procedures protect the basic human rights of workers.

Responsible Consumption and Production

Desso's take-back system supplies its Cradle to Cradle programme with discarded carpets as raw material to make new carpets, helping to reduce material going to waste.
